Twenty per cent of every Bird Year fare already goes into this fund. Donations sit on top of that and are spent the same way.
Optics
A pair of field binoculars, kept for life. For most applicants this is the single thing standing between them and a career.
A season
Three months of transport, meals and lodging on scheduled departures, alongside a working guide.
Half a year
Six months of field training, plus the reference books and the regional bird guide.
A full year
One birder carried through the entire programme, start to finish. You will be told who, and hear how they get on.
